Real Talk Tees: Art That Hits the Streets and the Soul May 27, 2025

One of my side hustles is designing and making t-shirts—but for me, it's more than just fashion. I create the images, print them on heat transfer vinyl, and manually apply them to shirts. Each design is made with intention, and everything I create serves multiple purposes. These shirts are also tools I use in my work with men in drug treatment. I use the images like a kind of Rorschach test. I show them the art and ask what it brings up for them. Often, it opens a door to feelings they haven’t yet found words for, thoughts they’ve buried, or parts of themselves they’re just beginning to face. It helps us connect. It helps them grow. At the same time, their responses also help me grow. I get to see how my art resonates with others—and whether it truly speaks to them. In this video, I’m offering you the same opportunity.
